God dag!
I’m a fellow European who was born and raised in Northern Germany, but just like you I jumped at the opportunity to study abroad when I was younger: while earning my Bachelor’s degree, I spent a total of five semesters in Ireland, Spain, and Texas, and those adventures changed my life forever. It was absolutely fantastic living in places and among people that were completely different from what I was used to in Germany. I am certain that you will have the same wonderful experiences – all it takes are an open mind and a positive attitude. :-)
My marketing practitioner background includes executive-level positions and consulting assignments with German, French, English, Irish, Mexican, and U.S. organizations. I have been to 40 countries and lived all over the world, but since 2010 New York has been my home. I am sure that you will love this city and its people just like I do, and I’m excited that Gateway New York provides YOU with the wonderful opportunity to study over here, and ME with the opportunity to teach you.
About the course:
Marketing is everything and everything is marketing! This is true for artists such as Lady Gaga or movies such as Monstertorsdag, as well as for fashion brands such as Abercrombie & Fitch or large corporations such as Norsk Hydro.
With that in mind, MARKETING 6002 is designed to provide you with a comprehensive theoretical introduction to marketing strategy and strategic marketing management, in order to build a solid foundation for advanced careers in business in general and in Fashion Management in particular. You will be introduced to the design, implementation and management of market-driven strategies and market-focused programs. We will view marketing strategy as a dynamic process designed to achieve distinctive strategic competence and competitive advantages in multinational settings, accomplished through strategic activities and operations that are designed to create and maintain long-term success.
Even if you don’t think that you are particularly interested in marketing in general or this class in particular, there is a lot that you can take out of it, because most of the concepts and processes that we learn in a marketing context can also be applied to other situations in life; for example, if you understand how to strategically position a product or brand, you also know how to position yourself to, for example, a potential employer or a date. ;-)
My course is predominantly lecture-based and attendance is the key to success. My goal is to prepare you well for the marketing side of your future career, while all of us are having fun in the process. Anything else, just ask! :-)
